The announcement of Sorare’s World Cup competition is here.
Sorare Pro Global Cup, because that’s its name, is shaping up to be one of the biggest fantasy football events Sorare has launched to this date.
And looking at the prize pool alone, it is easy to understand why so many managers are already paying attention. More than $150,000 in total cash prizes will be distributed throughout the competition.
The good news for most manager is that the Global Cup 2026 won’t be limited to In-Season cards only; the Classic counterparts will have their own competition too (albeit, quite understandably and predictably, not anywhere near as exciting).
Let’s have a closer look at both formats, starting with the In-Season.

🌎 Sorare Global Cup: Key Points
- In-Season Global Cup focuses heavily on Hot Streak gameplay, with shared cash prize pools, Sorare 27 Essence, and XP rewards.
- Limited and Rare managers play repeatable 4-level Hot Streak boards with 3 lives per level and Anytime Entry enabled.
- Super Rare and Unique managers compete on dedicated leaderboards across 7 tailored Game Weeks.
- International Edition Special cards can give a massive +30% scoring bonus on Limited and Rare Global Cup boards.
- Classic gameplay temporarily replaces All-Star and U23 competitions during the tournament.
- Global Cup gameplay runs from June 11 until July 20, covering group stages all the way to the finals.
In-Season Global Cup – Limited & Rare

The main focus of the summer event will clearly be the In-Season Global Cup competitions.
And from my first impression, Sorare is leaning heavily into what already works well inside the platform: Hot Streak gameplay, fast progression, and repeatable rewards.
The event will run throughout June and July and includes gameplay across every scarcity level, rewarding the managers with:
- XP boosts
- Sorare 27 Essence
- and more than $150K in total cash prizes
One important detail here is the separation between scarcity formats.
Limited and Rare managers will compete through dedicated Hot Streak boards, while Super Rare and Unique galleries will instead play on standalone leaderboards (we will take a look at them further down the article).
That distinction matters because the gameplay approach becomes completely different depending on your gallery level.
Sorare 27 Essence
One of the biggest additions tied to the In-Season Global Cup is the introduction of Sorare 27 Essence.
As Sorare already confirmed, current Essence balances from 2026 will eventually convert into the new season using a degressive conversion system. In simple terms, not all existing Essence will keep full value when the new cycle begins.
But the Essence earned during the Global Cup works differently. The rewarded Sorare 27 Essence does not need to go through the conversion process. That means managers who perform well during the summer event can start crafting new-season cards earlier once Sorare 27 launches.
From my perspective, this is actually a very smart incentive. Instead of treating the summer as dead time between seasons, Sorare is turning it into an early progression race for next year’s ecosystem.
Limited & Rare Hot Streak Boards
The structure itself will feel very familiar to managers like me who already played Hot Streak formats before.
Both Limited and Rare managers will compete on dedicated 4-level boards.
The rewards include:
- Sorare 27 Essence
- XP progression
- Shared cash prize pools
Take a look below at what’s your possible winnings if you’re a Limited manager.

Similar reward path awaits managers focusing on the Rare scarcity, me included.

To enter, managers must submit lineups containing:
- At least 4 In-Season cards
- Maximum 1 Classic card
That lineup rule is important because it heavily favors active In-Season galleries instead of older collections.
And honestly, this was expected. Sorare has been pushing the In-Season format harder with every major update.
Group Stage & Knockout Stage Boards
The Global Cup event will be divided into two separate gameplay windows.
- Group Stage: June 11 – June 27
- Knockout Stage: June 28 – July 19
The Group Stage boards already have confirmed targets and rewards.
The Group Stage:
- Limited: $50,000 shared prize pool
- Rare: $25,000 shared prize pool
For the Knockout Stage, Sorare already confirmed:
- Limited: $20,000 shared prize pool
- Rare: $10,000 shared prize pool
One thing newer managers should understand here is the meaning of “shared prize pool”. The rewards are divided among all managers who successfully complete the final level requirements.
So unlike fixed leaderboard payouts, your exact reward depends on how many other managers also finish the streak. That creates an interesting risk-versus-consistency balance during the event.
Anytime Entry
One feature I really like here is the Anytime Entry system. And if you’re already familiar with the Sorare Set format, you know why many managers (me included) love this approach.
This removes a lot of the frustration that sometimes (or most of the time :)) exists in traditional Game Week formats.
Because you can:
- Wait for official lineups
- Edit your team freely before kickoff
- Enter competitions throughout the day
- Play multiple streak attempts daily
That flexibility matters a lot during international tournaments because starting lineups can become unpredictable very quickly.
Managers no longer need to blindly lock teams hours before matches begin. Instead, you can react live as tournament news develops.
Three Lives Per Level
Introduction of additional “lives” is another thing that’s been clearly inspired by the success of the aforementioned Set mode.
Each Hot Streak level gives managers three lives. That means you can fail up to three lineup attempts before your run ends (in the Set game it’s actually four but that’s still good!)
If you hit the score target, you immediately move forward to the next level.
And importantly, even after completing the full streak and winning part of the shared cash prize pool, you are not locked out. You can restart the board and keep pushing again.
That repeatable progression system is a huge part of why Hot Streak gameplay became so popular in the first place. One successful run does not end your event.

In-Season Global Cup – Super Rare & Unique

While Limited and Rare managers will focus on Hot Streak boards, the higher scarcities follow a very different structure during the Global Cup.
The Global Cup leaderboard rewards will slightly change depending on the tournament phase.
During the early Game Weeks (GW1 to GW4), the largest payouts are available.
For the first four Game Weeks, first place rewards can scale anywhere between:
- $1,500 for full Super Rare lineups
- $7,500 for full Unique In-Season lineups

Then the rewards gradually decrease as the tournament moves deeper into knockout football with fewer matches available.

Below see the rewards for the last GW of the Global Cup.

In my opinion, these are OK but nothing more than that. Luckily for me, my focus is strictly on the Rare comps.
GameWeek Schedule
The event will run across seven dedicated Game Weeks:
- GW1: June 11 → June 18 (Matchday 1)
- GW2: June 18 → June 24 (Matchday 2)
- GW3: June 24 → June 28 (Matchday 3)
- GW4: June 28 → July 4 (Round of 32)
- GW5: July 4 → July 8 (Round of 16)
- GW6: July 9 → July 13 (Quarter-Finals)
- GW7: July 14 → July 20 (Semi-Finals + Finals)
All dates use CET time.
Entry Rules
The lineup construction rules follow the same structure already used in standard In-Season gameplay for the Super Rare & Unique scarcity.
Managers can:
- Play up to 2 Unique Classic cards
- OR use 1 Super Rare Classic + 1 Unique Classic
- OR use 1 Super Rare Classic alongside In-Season cards
This is important because it gives long-time managers some flexibility without completely removing the advantage of newer In-Season collections.
But it’s clear to see Sorare wants In-Season cards to remain the core focus of the competition.
Unique Reward Bonus
Unique cards also receive major reward bonuses depending on card type.
- 80% bonus per In-Season Unique card
- 20% bonus per Classic Unique card
And yes… those numbers are massive. At the Unique level, reward bonuses can completely reshape leaderboard strategy.
Managers are not only chasing raw player scores anymore. They are also optimizing card status and bonus stacking at the same time.
From my perspective, this creates a very different environment compared to lower scarcities.

International Edition Special Cards

One of the biggest additions during the Global Cup event is the launch of the new International Edition Special cards.
And honestly, this is clearly Sorare trying to create a proper tournament atmosphere inside the game (not just another regular card release).

These cards are tied directly to national teams participating during the summer competitions and will be available across 21 different countries.
The important thing to understand right away is this: You do not need International Edition cards to enter the Global Cup competitions.
Regular In-Season cards still work perfectly fine. But these special editions come with a major advantage on the Limited and Rare Hot Streak boards since they receive a massive +30% scoring bonus during the Global Cup In-Season competitions.
A 30% bonus is huge on Sorare. It can completely change the value of medium-tier players during streak gameplay.
Suddenly, a player who normally looks average can become extremely useful if the matchup and bonus align correctly.
That said, Sorare also made one thing very clear: the streak targets were designed to remain achievable without using bonus cards. So this is not a paywall system where you must own International Editions to compete.
Think of them more as lineup boosters. Your normal In-Season cards still bring XP and Collection Bonus value, while these new cards add raw score multiplication on top.
Card Tiers
Another important detail is the actual player distribution.
Sorare confirmed that most International Edition cards will focus on mid-to-lower-tier players, with only a very small number of Star-level cards available.
The reason is simple: most of the Star cards have already been given out as rewards during the season, and there are very little of them left in the pool.
It might be intentional as well. Some people think that if every elite international player suddenly received a +30% boost, the mode could become very difficult to balance.
Managers now have reasons to look deeper into squads instead of automatically locking the biggest stars every time.
First Card Drops
The first wave of International Edition cards is already hitting the market.
The release includes:
- Officially confirmed national team players
- Expected call-ups likely to make final squads
That second category is important.
Not every player receiving an International Edition card is fully guaranteed to participate in the tournament. Some players were added based on expected squad inclusion before official announcements arrived.
So if you want maximum safety, waiting for confirmed squads may be the smarter move.
From my experience, international tournaments always create speculation buying on Sorare. Sometimes too much. A single leaked squad rumor can move prices very quickly and it’s easy to lose money.
Confirmed “International Edition” Countries
International Edition cards will be available for 21 countries (depending on remaining player supply).
- Argentina
- Australia
- Austria
- Canada
- Colombia
- Croatia
- Czech Republic
- DR Congo
- England
- Japan
- New Zealand
- Norway
- Panama
- Paraguay
- Portugal
- Scotland
- South Korea
- Sweden
- Switzerland
- United States
- Uruguay
And for almost every country, one player receives an extra special visual treatment featuring a dedicated national flag pose. These are mainly collectible-focused variants.
The important gameplay detail is that the scoring bonus applies to all International Edition cards, not only the flag versions.
Separate Collection Albums
One thing that may initially confuse some managers is the collection structure. International Edition cards are split into different collection albums depending on league seasonality.
For example:
- MLS cards go into 2026 country albums
- K League cards go into 2026 country albums
- Most European league cards remain in 2025 albums
That means two players from the same country may not always belong to the same collection set. Sorare explained this is necessary to maintain accurate seasonal supply tracking for each player.
In practice, it mostly affects collection bonus organization rather than gameplay itself.
Crafting International Edition Cards
International Edition cards will also become available through crafting once the competition officially begins on June 11.
And this is where the new Global Cup Essence becomes very interesting. That’s because the Essence earned through the Global Cup Hot Streak boards is tied specifically to tournament-eligible players.
When crafting with it, you can pull:
- International Edition cards
- Regular In-Season cards eligible for the Global Cup
Once the tournament ends, any remaining Global Cup Essence converts directly into All-Star Sorare 27 Essence at a full 1:1 rate. No reduction.
That is a pretty important detail for long-term managers planning their summer grinding strategy.
Post-Global Cup utility
After the tournament ends, International Edition cards do not disappear. However, their special +30% scoring bonus gets removed completely.
From there, the utility depends on the player’s league status on July 20.
If the player belongs to MLS or K League clubs at that moment, the card keeps its In-Season status until those leagues finish. All other International Edition cards become Classic cards after the event.
And importantly, future transfers will not change that status, because July 20 permanently locks the card utility.
That means managers should think carefully before heavily investing purely for long-term utility.
In my opinion, these cards are mainly designed as short-term tournament weapons first… and collectibles second.

Classic Global Cup Gameplay

The Global Cup event is not only focused on In-Season gameplay (but let’s be honest, it almost is).
Sorare is now temporarily replacing the standard All-Star and U23 competitions with a dedicated Classic Global Cup format. This change will remain active throughout the tournament period, with regular All-Star competitions returning once the K League resumes in July.
From my perspective, this makes sense. During major international tournaments, club football becomes secondary anyway. Most managers naturally focus on national team matches and tournament slates.
However, I do understand the obvious frustration of managers who have already invested in U23 players participating in the tournament and now have nowhere to play them (well, nowhere apart from the Classic Global Cup…).
The structure itself stays fairly straightforward.
Managers can submit:
- Up to 4 lineups per scarcity
The competition also follows the same Game Week calendar already used across the Global Cup event.
Unlike the In-Season Hot Streak boards, the Classic format focuses on leaderboard rewards (similar to Super Rare & Unique).
Arenas
One detail many managers (yes, me included) will probably appreciate is that the Arenas remain fully active during the Global Cup.
So even while the normal seasonal competitions are temporarily adjusted, managers can still:
- Battle other managers directly
- Enter unlimited teams
- Farm additional rewards
That is important because Arena gameplay has quietly become one of the most active daily systems on Sorare. And one of my favorite!
Classic Global Cup Prize Pools
The Classic competitions reward managers with large amounts of 2026 All-Star Essence across every scarcity level.
Limited Rewards
- 1st → 30,000 Essence
- 2nd → 20,000 Essence
- 3rd → 10,000 Essence
- 4th–5th → 7,000 Essence
- 6th–10th → 5,000 Essence
- 11th–20th → 3,000 Essence
- 21st–50th → 2,000 Essence
- 51st–100th → 1,500 Essence
Rare Rewards
- 1st → 30,000 Essence
- 2nd → 20,000 Essence
- 3rd → 10,000 Essence
- 4th–5th → 5,000 Essence
- 6th–10th → 3,000 Essence
- 11th–20th → 2,000 Essence
- 21st–50th → 1,000 Essence
- 51st–100th → 750 Essence
Super Rare Rewards
- 1st → 10,000 Essence
- 2nd → 5,000 Essence
- 3rd → 3,000 Essence
- 4th–5th → 2,000 Essence
- 6th–10th → 1,000 Essence
- 11th–20th → 500 Essence
Unique Rewards
- 1st → 5,000 Essence
- 2nd → 3,000 Essence
- 3rd → 1,000 Essence
- 4th–5th → 500 Essence
- 6th–10th → 250 Essence
If you ask for my honest opinion: the Classic format mainly gives long-term managers a way to keep older galleries active during the tournament instead of fully forcing everyone into In-Season grinding. And that balance is probably important for the overall health of the platform.
With that said, let’s be honest: the 2026 Essence has very little value, considering the poor quality of players that are left in the Crafting pool. Still – I guess it’s better than nothing!
