Essence is probably the single most important resource inside Sorare Set.

At first, it may look like just another in-game currency (open packs, get cards, repeat). But once you spend more time inside the different Set editions, you quickly realize that how you manage your Essence often decides how fast your gallery actually progresses.

Good Essence management can help you build stronger collections, complete Collect missions faster, and reach higher Hot Streak levels much more consistently. Bad Essence management does the exact opposite.

And this is exactly where many newer managers struggle early on (yes, that also includes my early days with the Set 🙂 ). It’s tempting to spend Essence too quickly, chase random packs without a clear goal, or completely ignore how important long-term collection planning can become later in a Set edition.

In this guide, we’ll go through exactly what Sorare Set Essence is, how you earn it, how you (should) spend it, and most importantly… how to actually use it effectively instead of burning through it blindly.

Key Points
  • Essence is the main progression currency in Sorare Set and is primarily used to open packs.
  • Unlike Sorare Pro Essence, Set Essence is tied to specific Set editions and does not fully carry over forever.
  • The best managers usually avoid spending all their Essence immediately and instead save some for daily missions, better pack opportunities, and mission progression.
  • Focusing on one or two leagues or clubs often creates much faster Collection Bonus growth and more efficient Essence usage.
  • The main ways to earn Set Essence include Hot Streak progression, missions, the Wheel, scrapping cards, and special event gameplay.

What is the Set Essence?

In simple terms, Essence is the main progression currency inside Sorare Set.

You use it to buy packs in order to expand your Set gallery.

Think of it as the fuel that keeps your entire Set progression moving forward. Without Essence, your collection growth slows down very quickly.

Once you collect enough Essence, you can spend it on different pack types depending on the active Set edition.

How to Get Set Essence?

One thing I actually like a lot about Sorare Set is that Essence comes from many different progression systems at the same time.

You are rarely locked into only one grind method.

Instead, the mode constantly feeds smaller rewards into your gallery from multiple directions (which is a big reason why the gameplay loop feels surprisingly addictive).

Here are the main ways to earn Set Essence.

1. Hot Streak progression

This is usually the biggest Essence source for most active managers.

As you clear levels on the Hot Streak board, you regularly earn Essence rewards for progression.

Early levels often focus heavily on Essence payouts before later stages shift more toward:

  • Gems
  • Cash rewards
  • Special progression rewards

And because Hot Streak gameplay is repeatable, consistent managers can generate a surprisingly large amount of Essence over time.

2. Daily Missions

Daily Missions are one of the easiest and most reliable Essence sources in the game.

Most of them are very simple tasks like:

  • Buy a Pack
  • Open a Free Pack
  • Find a player card of some required Tier
  • Open rewards

Completing them usually rewards:

  • Wheel Tickets
  • Extra Essence
  • Occasional Gems

And honestly, this is why I always recommend logging in daily even if you only have a few minutes available. Small daily rewards stack up much faster than people expect.

3. Collect Missions

Collect Missions are much more long-term focused.

These missions reward managers for building deeper collections around:

  • Specific clubs
  • Leagues
  • Player positions
  • Player nationalities
  • Special card editions

The further you progress, the better the rewards usually become.

And this is where efficient Essence spending loops start appearing.

You open packs → improve collections → complete missions → earn more Essence → open more packs.

That cycle is basically the heart of Set progression.

4. The Wheel

The Wheel is another very important Essence source.

You mainly access it through Wheel Tickets earned from missions.

And depending on the spin outcome, you can receive:

  • Essence bundles
  • Gems
  • Cards

From my experience, the Wheel becomes much more impactful over time than many managers initially think.

Especially if you complete daily missions consistently.

5. Scrapping cards

Another major Essence source is card scrapping.

If you own cards you no longer need, you can permanently remove them from your gallery in exchange for Essence.

This is especially common for:

  • Duplicate cards
  • Reserve players
  • Cards that lost their utility
  • Cards from abandoned strategies

And once your gallery becomes large enough, scrapping slowly turns into a steady progression engine by itself.

6. Free Daily Packs

Even free packs indirectly contribute toward Essence generation.

Sometimes you pull useful players.

Other times you pull duplicates or weak cards that later become scrap material.

And that is actually one of the smarter parts of the Set economy.

Even bad pulls usually keep contributing something toward future progression instead of feeling completely dead.

How to Spend Essence Effectively?

One of the biggest mistakes newer managers make in Sorare Set is spending Essence immediately every single time they reach enough for another pack.

At first, opening packs constantly feels exciting (and honestly, that dopamine hit is very real).

But over time, random pack opening usually creates slower progression instead of faster progression.

From my experience, managers who use Essence strategically almost always build stronger collections in the long run.

1. Keep enough Essence for Daily Missions

This is probably the most overlooked tip in the entire mode.

I almost always try to keep at least enough Essence for one Bronze Pack available at all times (usually around 1,000 Essence depending on the active Set).

Why?

Because one of the most common daily missions is simply:

  • Buy a Pack

Completing that mission gives you a Wheel Ticket, which can then generate:

  • More Essence
  • Extra Gems
  • Additional cards

So ironically, blindly spending all your Essence immediately can actually reduce your progression efficiency later the same day.

2. Stop buying random Packs

This is another huge trap.

Many managers open whichever pack becomes available first without thinking about long-term collection strategy.

But in Sorare Set, focusing your gallery usually works much better than spreading cards everywhere.

For example, you may decide to focus mainly on:

  • Premier League
  • LALIGA
  • Certain clubs only (which again means = certain leagues)

That approach helps you build Collection Bonuses much faster because more of your cards belong to the same ecosystem.

And those bonus percentages become extremely important later into Hot Streak progression.

3. Use Missions to guide your Pack decisions

This is probably the biggest shift that improved my own Set progression.

Instead of opening packs randomly, I started checking:

  • Collection Missions
  • Club collection milestones
  • League progression checkpoints

…before spending Essence.

Because sometimes opening one specific pack can suddenly unlock:

  • More Essence
  • New cards
  • Gems
  • Wheel Tickets

And once multiple reward systems start feeding into each other, your progression speed increases massively.

That is when Sorare Set starts feeling much smoother.

4. Save Essence during poor cycles

Not every moment inside a Set edition offers the same value.

Sometimes certain leagues have weak fixtures, no fixtures at all, or poor Collect mission alignment.

And honestly, forcing random openings during those periods rarely feels worth it.

In many cases, patience creates better long-term results.

Set Essence vs Pro Essence

One thing that confuses many newer managers is the difference between Essence in Sorare Set and Essence in Sorare Pro.

Even though both systems use the same name, they actually work very differently.

And understanding that distinction early matters quite a lot (especially if you plan to play both modes seriously).

How Essence works in Set

Inside Sorare Set, Essence is fairly simple.

You earn it through gameplay and then spend it to open packs.

That is the entire purpose of Set Essence.

Each Set edition has its own separate Essence type.

For example:

And importantly, these currencies do not carry over between Set editions.

Once a Set ends, its Essence either loses utility.

That means Sorare Set progression is intentionally seasonal and temporary.

You are constantly rebuilding collections during each new Set cycle.

How Essence Works in Pro

Sorare Pro Essence is much more valuable overall.

Mainly because it connects directly to the actual Sorare market economy.

Unlike Set, Pro Essence carries throughout the seasons (albeit with a degressive conversion).

And it’s mainly used for card crafting.

That means you can eventually generate real tradable cards that can:

  • Enter Pro competitions
  • Be sold on the market
  • Generate rewards long-term

And because Pro cards themselves carry real market value, Pro Essence naturally becomes much more valuable too.

It is also considerably harder to earn consistently.

From my experience, newer managers often underestimate that difference at first.

Set Essence flows much more freely through gameplay loops. Pro Essence is usually slower, more limited, and more competitive to farm.

Different Scarcity Essence Types

Another major difference is that Sorare Pro separates Essence by scarcity.

You do not simply earn one universal Essence currency.

Instead, there are different Essence types tied to:

  • Limited cards
  • Rare cards
  • Super Rare cards
  • Unique cards

That system keeps the different market levels separated from each other.
